Parque
Acuatico. (Vera)
We recommend a day at this excellent water park. Loads of fun, some
great flumes and doesn’t seem to get too overcrowded. Just 15
minutes drive towards Vera.

Mini Hollywood
Approx 30 minutes drive towards Almeria, Another good day out at
this Wild West town/animal park. Walk in the footsteps of some of
the giants of cinema history! Mini Hollywood was the first and the
most famous of the film sets built in this desert landscape. Where
world renowned Westerns such as The Good,The Bad and the Ugly and
A Fist Full of Dollars had many of their scenes filmed, there is
now a fully interactive theme park within the streets of the renovated
film set and a more recently added Zoo, with many interesting animals
to see. Thrill at the Western Show (a staging of the capture of
the outlaw Jessie James and his gang) performed 3 times a day in
high season then enjoy a cool beer and the high kicking antics of
the Cancan Dancers in the authentic surroundings of the Yellow Rose
Saloon (dance performances 3 times in high season). There are various
museums to the Old West and to the heritage of cinema and the not
to be missed Photo Studio with the chance to dress as cowboys and
indians for a sepia tinted souvenir of your visit. You may also
recognise this as the location of David Beckham’s Pepsi add.
Very much a family outing with ample restaurants, play areas, horse
riding and a water park (in high season). Remember you are in a
desert and especially in the summer months it is very hot so do
not forget the sun block.

Texas Hollywood
In the same vein and only 3 kms back down the road towards Tabernas.
This is a film set which is still currently in use so you may find
yourself walking on as an extra in a blockbuster Western! Still
appealing to the kid in us all but this park is more of a grown
up option.

Cuevas de Sorbas
For a break from the sun why not visit the fascinating
Cuevas de Sorbas where deep gorges and stalactite caves have been
carved out of the limestone sub strata. 3 types of guided tours
are offered, from a basic 2hr tour to a lengthy pothole. Found on
the N340 just before Sorbas on the left.
